14 Weeks (560 hrs)
(65% Journeyman’s Wage) $19.50 I hour

  1. Jobsite Safety Orientation and Clean area correctly for efficiency and safety
  2. PPE- Hard Hat, Glasses, High Viz, Boots, Ear Protection, Gloves, Dust Mask
  3. Laborer work
  4. Hand Tools I Identify – Use – Safety – Purchase
    • Tool belt, Hammer, Tape, Pencil, Markers, Snips, Rasp, Speed square, key hole,, Knife, Clamps, T­Square, Kicker, Chalk Line (2), Plumb bob, Torpedo Level
  5. Identify all material and uses
    • Track / Stud (Sizes/ Gauges)
    • Fasteners/ Hilti-Ramset- Anchors- Framers-Drywall
    • Drywall/ X-C-WR-DSG-Glass Rock- EG-SL-Etc.
    • Sheathing/ PW-OSB-Treated-FRPW-Sheet Metal
    • Headers – King Studs
    • Safety / Lifting – Cuts
  6. Scaffold / Identify – Setup – Use – Storage – Safety
    • Trigger- Saw horse- Roll N Fold- Ladder – Perry – 5′ Big Green- Walk up Bench- A-Frame­Harness and Lanyards
  7. Power Tools I Identify- Setup- Use – Safety
    • Cordless Tools – Screw gun – Rotary Laser – Laser Bobs – Chop Saws – Hot /Demo Saw
  8. OSHA 10 – RDJ

26 Weeks (1040 hrs)
(70% Journeyman’s Wage) $21.00 / hour

  1. Understand correct placement of track and studs including direction, corners, slammers, and layout of studs
  2. Understand correct placement of sheet goods, starting points, direction, joint placement, cutting to size, correct fastening
  3. Understand King studs, Sills, and Headers
  4. Ability to retrieve correct number of items needed to finish area according to layout – count layout marks, follow directions
  5. Set up equipment needed to complete task at area determined by carpenter, scaffold-saws- laser – etc.
  6. Purchase Screw gun, Router, 4′ level
  7. Hilti Training – RDJ
  8. Drywall Level 1 – Informational In House Training Class (RDJ)

26 Weeks (1,040 hrs)
(75% Journeyman’s Wage) $22.50 / hour

  1. Pull layout and mark correctly allowing for slammers, corners, finish layers, and direction of studs
  2. Install track and studs correctly as bottom person
  3. Efficiently operate screw gun
  4. Correctly cut and place Kings, Sills, and Headers
  5. Move equipment for next step: Scaffold, Laser, Etc.
  6. Understand Plumb, Level, and Square
  7. Being proficient at installation of sheet goods, spans- rating applications, installation of fasteners. Efficiency in box cut outs, communication of measurements taking and giving
  8. CPR I First Aid – RDJ
  9. Metal Stud Framing – Employee @ RDJ Shop

4 Weeks (160 hrs)
(80% Journeyman’s Wage) $24.00/ hour

26 Weeks (1040 hrs)
(85% Journeyman’s Wage) $25.50 / hour

  1. Implement previous levels solo on minimal tasks efficiently
  2. Determine 3-4-5 to get square
  3. Assist in layout- snapping both sides of walls in red and soffits in blue, Mark doors, windows, expansion joints, etc.
  4. Assist in determining bench marks for doors, windows, 1 st row of gyp or sheathing
  5. Introduction to plan reading
  6. Start overseeing level 2
  7. Introduction to paper work
  8. Understanding of building schedule as it pertains to our trade
  9. Understanding correct application of drywall to achieve correct wall types and ratings
  10. Installation of corner bead and all drywall accessories
  11. Spend time with tapers ( 40 hours minimum)
  12. Drywall Level 2 – Application In House Training Class (RDJ)

6 Weeks (1040 hrs)
(90% Journeyman’s Wage) $27.00 / hour

  1. Read Plans

  3. Complete efficiently all other levels

  5. Lead lower level apprentice
  6. Be efficient with production and quality

Taping Apprenticeship Program

  6. Identify tools, know what they are used for, Clean all tools appropriately
  7. Scaffold/ Identify – Setup – Use -Storage -Safety
    • Saw horse- Roll N Fold -Ladder-Perry -5′ Big Green- Walk up Bench-A-Frame- Harness and Lanyards
  8. Basic Sanding skills
